Frequently asked questions
What would you like to know?

Still have questions? We've got answers. Email us or give us a call.

  • How much do dog trainers cost?

The price can vary from dog to dog, from dog owner to dog owner, and from trainer to trainer. It really depends on all three of those. How capable is the dog at doing what the owner wants it to do? How severe are the issues with the dog? How capable is the owner at enforcing good manners and obedience after training? All of these questions can be brought up and answered more clearly in a consultation. Consultations are free!!

  • How to find a dog trainer near me?

We have clients all through out New England. Traveling for a consultation generally isn’t an issue for us! Give us a call or email to see if we can help. If you are too far away for training, we would love to recommend a trainer near you. Give us a shout.

  • Is it ever too late to start training a dog?

No! You CAN teach an old dog new tricks. All dogs are capable of learning at any stage of their life. It is best to start as young as possible, but if you missed that window don’t let that stop you from giving your dog the best life possible!

  • What is the best way to train a dog?

Each dog is an individual. Each dog owner is an individual. There are a million different ways to train dogs. A simple google search will show you that even the dog training community cant agree on the best way to train dogs. What does this show us? It shows us that every dog can not be trained the same way. Each dog needs to be approached as an individual and training needs to be custom. Thats what we do and we pride ourselves on that.

  • Can I train a dog myself?

Yes! The best way to do this is with the guidance of a dog trainer! Private lessons are a great way to learn how to teach your dog listen and most importantly, give them the best life possible. In my opinion, this is the best way to develop respect and a healthy relationship with your dog. Sure you can google dog training methods. I have already done that and sorted it all out. Let us help.

  • When to start training a puppy?

Each dog starts learning the second they are born. If they are not learning good habits they are for sure learning bad ones. We have a TON of different ways to help out with your puppy. Whether it’s a full residency to get them in tip top shape as soon as possible or even socialization classes. Let us help. Your dog needs to be shown how to live in this confusing world. Your puppy will learn every day. Show them the good stuff to learn.

  • What dog training techniques do you use?

It depends on the dog and the dog owner. I sculpt training methods for each dog. I always try to find what makes a dog motivated to work and always keep the owner in mind. What will the owner have to do to maintain a well minded obedient pup? Short answer is, all the techniques! What ever works best!

  • Do you offer dog training classes?

Yes! But, I feel dogs need one on one training before they can enter a class. Classes to me, are for more obedient dogs that are capable of handling distractions. You can’t run a marathon until you can walk a mile! I feel the same way about dogs. Let’s work on the basics with no distractions first. Then we can get to the hard stuff! I book my classes as needed. I do not have set schedules.

  • How many training sessions does a dog need?

This depends on the dog and the dog owner. How capable is the dog at doing what the owner wants? What are the owners goals? I have had success getting dogs to walk on a leash without pulling in one session. If I am doing a behavior modification for a 8 year old aggressive dog, I will need more than a week. Give us a call, email, or fill out our pre training form to find out more specifics about training.
